Platforms
BitKeeper works well on all of the supported platforms, with the only differences being either performance related (due to the file system) or operating system related (no symbolic links on Windows platforms).

The list of supported platforms is currently:

  • IRIX 6.5 and later on MIPS (to be phased out in bk-5.0)

  • Linux/PARISC (HP RISC platforms)
  • Linux/PPC
  • Linux/S390 (upon request)
  • Linux/SPARC
  • Linux/x86 (x86, AMD, Cyrix, etc)
  • Linux/x86-64 (AMD or Intel with 64bit extensions)
  • MacOS X on PPC and x86
  • NetBSD on x86
  • OpenBSD on x86
  • SCO OpenServer Release 5 on x86
  • Solaris 5.6 and later on SPARC
  • Solaris 5.7 and later on x86
  • Windows 2000 (to be phased out by 2011)
  • Windows 2003 server (to be phased out by 2011)
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 2008 server
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7
